The Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA), led by Chairman Samuel Aboabire, has officially launched the 2023/2024 Middle League football tournament at the Trust Sports Emporium in Accra.
The launch ceremony took place on Thursday, June 13, 2024, marking the beginning of an exciting journey for the six qualified teams.
The Middle League features six teams from six zones; Emmanuel City, Danbort FC, Newtown Youth FC, True Democracy, Kotoku Shining Stars and Immigration FC.
The tournament serves as a qualification for the Division One League next season, with the teams eager to showcase their skills and compete for a spot in the higher division.
The official balloting of the teams was held during the launch ceremony, with the following matches scheduled:
Group A: Immigration FC vs. Danbort FC with Emmanuel City FC (on standby)
Group B: Newtown Youth FC vs. Kotoku Shining Stars and True Democracy (on standby)
According to GARFA, measures have been outlined to ensure the successful hosting of the event, including security, team welfare, and other necessary arrangements.
Chairman Samuel Aboabire expressed his excitement about the tournament, stating, “We are thrilled to launch the GARFA 2024 Middle League, which promises to be an exciting and competitive tournament.
“We have put in place all necessary measures to ensure the success of the event and provide a platform for the teams to showcase their talents.” He added.
He further emphasized the importance of the tournament, saying, “The GARFA 2024 Middle League is a vital step in the development of football in the region, and we are committed to making it a success. We wish all the teams the best of luck and look forward to an exciting tournament.”
The Middle League is expected to kick off on June 22 to 7th July, 2024 at the Accra sports stadium with the top team earning promotion to the Division One League.
