Students To Confirm Choices Before Final Placement On Sept 17

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the school placement portal will be open from September 1 to 8, 2025, giving students the chance to recheck and confirm their school choices. The final placement exercise will follow on September 17.

At a press briefing in Accra, GES Director-General Professor Ernest Davis said the initiative aims to ensure transparency in the process. He explained that students will report to their assigned schools between October 18 and 20, marking the beginning of the new academic year.

Professor Davis cautioned parents against paying bribes to secure placements, stressing that the process is free and any attempt to buy a placement is illegal. He urged the public to report such practices to law enforcement agencies.

For the first time, private schools have been integrated into the placement system. Students may now select them as part of their choices or through the self-placement option. The move expands opportunities and broadens access to education.

Addressing other concerns, Professor Davis confirmed that the double-track system will remain until 2028, though some schools will gradually phase it out. He also noted that while some results are withheld by WAEC, the placement schedule will not be delayed.
