Twenty-two of the 28 personnel who enrolled in the 2024 ITTF Competition Management Africa Workshop Examination (both onsite and online) successfully passed the exam, earning temporary status as “Regional Competition Managers in Progress.”
The training saw participation from officials representing Tunisia, Nigeria, Egypt, Eritrea, Botswana, Ghana, Zambia, South Africa, Djibouti, Algeria, and Ethiopia. The sessions were conducted under the guidance of ITTF Senior Manager Mohammed El-Dawlatly.
After three days of rigorous theoretical and practical training, the examination took place during the 2024 African Championships in Addis Ababa and online.
According to Omar Refaat Bassyouni, ITTF Development Projects Manager, the successful candidates will be certified as “ITTF Regional Competition Managers in Progress.” He explained that to obtain the full status of “ITTF Regional Competition Manager,” candidates must attend an ITTF/WTT event as an assistant Competition Manager and be evaluated by an ITTF Competition Manager or a WTT Event supervisor. Upon successful evaluation, the candidate will be eligible for the Regional CM title.
Wahid Enitan Oshodi, President of ITTF Africa, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome.
We are thrilled with the enthusiasm shown by member associations and the impressive turnout. We extend our gratitude to ITTF for providing this opportunity. This is a significant step forward for Africa, as we now have new experts who will help manage and coordinate our events to meet global standards. We believe their expertise will greatly benefit our future events.
