A total of 24 (12 male and female) invited pingpong players are currently participating in the Olympic solidarity athlete training program.
The program which started on Thursday, 25th and expected to end on Monday, 29th January, 2024, forms part of the preparations towards the upcoming African Games in March.
Initiated by the Ghana Table Tennis Association, GTTA, with support from the International Table Tennis Federation, ITTF, the players will have access to informations, current developments in rallys’, event day and match point analysis, various training methods; Backhand and Forehand loops among others.
The female athletes are Frema Cecelia, Kwabi Cynthia, Baidoo Augustina, Adom-Amankwaah Eva, Borteye Joanita, Borquaye B. Bernice, Labanti Blessing, Koomson Adepa Gloria, Asare-Agbottah Hilda, Borkor Naa Mary, Danso-Baah Celia and Bortey Emerald.
Whiles Alabi Godwin, Marfo James, Baidoo Augustine, Antwi Francis, Ofori Richard, Sam Bernard Joe, Akayede Samuel, Aklie Israel, Davies Isaac, Gado Ibrahim, Yeboah Michael and Damoah Collins also making up the male list.
According to a release signed by the technical director of the GTTA, Charles Tachie-Menson disclosed that, four male coaches are also undergoing the training program.
They are Annang Whyte Ebenezer, Andoh Kwesi Koomson, Otoo Enoch and Amartey Robert.
Some coaches who participated in the recently ended Olympic solidarity technical coaching course are also partaking in the event.
The Olympic Solidarity Athlete training program is being facilitated by an ITTF instructor Mohammed Atoum and William Berekorang Asare as coordinator.
