The National Union of Tricycle Operators Ghana (NUTOG) has announced that the legalization of the pragya business will enhance youth employment in the country.
This was disclosed by the Secretary-General of NUTOG, Hafiz Hamza, at the official inauguration ceremony of the union in the Central region on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
According to Hafiz Hamza, over 25,000 youth will benefit from the pragya business, which will not only boost the economy but also curb the spread of robbery. The pragya business, also known as the tricycle or motorcycle transport service, has been a vital means of transportation in Ghana, providing employment opportunities for thousands of youth.
Hafiz Hamza called on the government to speed up the legalization of their licenses.
“We urge the government to expedite the process of legalizing our licenses to enable us to operate freely and contribute to the country’s economic growth.” He said.
The legalization of the pragya business will bring numerous benefits, including increased employment opportunities, improved transportation services, and a reduction in crime rates.
NUTOG is committed to working with the government to ensure the smooth operation of the pragya business.
The pragya business has been in existence for several years, providing transportation services to millions of Ghanaians.
However, its legalization has been delayed, causing uncertainty among operators. NUTOG’s call for legalization is a step towards formalizing the business and ensuring its sustainability.
In conclusion, the legalization of the pragya business will have a significant impact on youth employment in Ghana, and NUTOG’s efforts towards this goal are commendable.
The government’s prompt attention to this matter will go a long way in boosting the economy and improving the lives of thousands of youth.
