How Media General is Promoting African Unity With AfroConnect
3FM 92.7, a subsidiary of Media General and one of Ghana’s fastest-growing radio stations, has launched the 2025 edition of AfroConnect, a signature platform dedicated to fostering African unity and cultural cooperation. The launch took place on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the Media General premises in Accra, within the studios of TV3 and 3FM.
The ceremony was graced by high-profile guests, including the South African High Commissioner, the CEO of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park (KNMP), the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), as well as diplomatic representatives from Senegal, Togo, Burundi, Nigeria, and Uganda. Broadcast live on both TV3 and 3FM, speakers highlighted the importance of cultural exchange, economic partnerships, and the role of unity in Africa’s development.
Lois Kissiedu, Head of Station for 3FM, expressed excitement about this year’s experience, particularly the Osagyefo Night Concert, which will merge storytelling with stellar musical performances from Trigmatic, Ayisi, Kurl Songs, and Episode. Dr. Collins Rawlings Nunyonameh, CEO of KNMP, emphasized that AfroConnect would help boost tourism and promote the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Acting South African High Commissioner H.E. Thando Dalamba revealed that the event will feature South African cuisine and tourism showcases, while GTDC CEO Professor Kobby Mensah urged Africans to deepen cultural ties across borders.
Themed “Uniting Global Africa,” the 2025 edition marks the fifth installment of AfroConnect and will be held on September 22, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Highlights include fashion displays, cultural showcases, the popular Jollof Wars, and the merged AfroConnect and Osagyefo Night celebration.
