Attorney General progressing with 288 cases; prosecutions to start soon

The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has given an update on corruption-related cases handed to the Attorney General by the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee.

Speaking to ChannelOne TV on April 8, 2025, Kwakye Ofosu revealed that out of 288 cases submitted, 65 suspects have so far been arrested, interrogated, and some granted bail, awaiting prosecution. He added that investigations are ongoing and that updates would be provided regularly.

Kwakye Ofosu mentioned that high-profile figures like former Minister of Railway Development Joe Ghartey and former GIIF Board Chairman Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi are among those being investigated, mainly in relation to the Accra Sky Train project. He also highlighted the Kwabena Adu-Boahene case as the most prominent.

He stressed that Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine is committed to doing a thorough job to ensure strong cases are built before any prosecutions begin. According to him, prosecutions will soon start, with Adu-Boahene’s case likely being the first.

The government aims to ensure that all wrongdoings uncovered by ORAL are properly investigated to secure convictions and maintain public confidence in the justice system.
