Accra, GHANA – In a game-changing move, the United States Government, in collaboration with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), has introduced a groundbreaking $7 million program that presents an unprecedented opportunity for farmers in Ghana. The Farmer Support Activity, facilitated by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), aims to revolutionize food security and empower farmers during the lean season in select districts across Ghana.

This transformative initiative will provide vital assistance to 17,000 farmers from June to August 2023. By combining financial support and comprehensive agricultural training, the USAID Farmer Support Activity equips farmers with the necessary tools for success. Through strategic partnerships with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the National Identity Authority, MTN, and other key stakeholders, WFP has identified and registered smallholder farmers who will benefit from this life-changing project.
The collaboration between USAID, WFP, and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture aims to empower farmers and enhance agricultural practices. The project’s objectives are to enhance food security, improve livelihoods, and drive sustainable development in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
