The world record-holder of the Women’s 400m hurdles, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone announced she will not compete in Budapest because of a knee injury.

“I am so sad to share that I must withdraw from the this years World Championships meet in Budapest. After consulting with my doctors and coaches, I need to take care of a minor knee issue so that I can be fully healthy for next years’ Paris Olympics. I look forward to seeing everyone back on the track soon” – she wrote on her Instagram page on Friday.

The new queen of sports tried something new this year: she started to race in the 400m, and she had very promising results. She won the US Nationals with an amazing 48.74 seconds time, and became the 10th fastest female athlete in history.
