Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a notable figure in Ghanaian politics, who serves as the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and is a presidential hopeful within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has voiced his concern about the unfair characterization of individuals who speak the truth as being arrogant.
During an interview on Face to Face with Citi TV, Agyapong expressed his dismay over the unwarranted labeling of truth-tellers, stating that this practice is discouraging many others from openly addressing important issues, for fear of being branded as arrogant. He emphasized that in Ghana, people often shy away from speaking the truth due to the perceived risk of being labeled as arrogant or insulting.
Agyapong responded to criticisms about his own assertive and often blunt commentary on public platforms. He explained that his responses are often a reaction to repeated provocations and actions directed at him. He highlighted the unfairness of being criticized for responding to allegations and insults, while the original provocations are overlooked.
The Assin Central lawmaker urged for a change in attitude, emphasizing that for the country to progress, it is essential for individuals to be confident, bold, honest, sincere, and disciplined in their approach. He argued that if Ghana is to develop, it is crucial to prioritize the truth and encourage open dialogue without fear of backlash.
Agyapong further defended his own character, asserting that his positive contributions far outweigh any perceived negative aspects. He believed that his actions and accomplishments serve as a model worth emulating
