In a recent interview on Citi TV’s “Face to Face,” James Gyakye Quayson, the Member of Parliament for Assin North, expressed his unwavering belief in the justice system and his conviction that he will be acquitted of all charges brought against him. Quayson is currently facing legal proceedings related to allegations of forgery and perjury.

When asked by the show’s host, Umaru Sanda, whether he feared the possibility of incarceration if found guilty, Quayson confidently responded, “No, why should I? I believe in the justice system. The fundamental thing about any judicial matter is that person intended to commit that crime. Did he plan it, I have not planned anything of such.”

Quayson maintained his trust in both the court and his legal representation. He expressed confidence in the eventual positive verdict, citing his belief that he had acted in accordance with the law. Quayson further revealed that he had been utilizing his dual citizenship since 2009, emphasizing that the Ghanaian authorities had recognized him as a dual citizen, which made the charges seem contradictory.

The charges against Quayson include deceit of a public officer, forgery of passport or travel certificate, knowingly making a false statutory declaration, perjury, and false declaration for office. Despite the gravity of the charges, Quayson’s resolute confidence in the justice system and his assertion of having adhered to the law form the core of his defense.

As the legal battle continues, Quayson’s steadfastness and optimism underscore his determination to prove his innocence and defend his integrity in the face of the accusations. The outcome of this case remains of significant interest to the public, as it navigates the intersection of law, citizenship, and political representation.
