Experienced Nigeria centre-back Osinachi Ohale has joined Mexican women’s club Pachuca following an impressive 2023 World Cup campaign.

The 31-year-old was with Spanish side Alaves before starring for the Super Falcons in Australia, featuring in all four games as they reached the last 16.

Ohale formed a solid partnership with young defender Tosin Demehin, with Nigeria conceding just twice. She also scored the winner against Australia in the group stage.

Her standout performances has now earned Ohale a move to Liga MX Femenil club Pachuca after the tournament.

Pachuca said in a statement: “We welcome Osinachi Ohale to our club following her stellar performances at the 2023 World Cup.”

She will join compatriot Uchenna Kanu in Mexico, hoping to make her mark on the league.

Ohale has four World Cups and four Africa Women’s Cup of Nations titles to her name with the Super Falcons.

After starting her career in Nigeria, she played for several US clubs before moving to Europe with Vittsjo GIK and spells in Spain and Italy.

The experienced centre-back’s arrive provides a massive boost for Pachuca, who currently sit 12th in the 18-team Mexican women’s league.

Ohale will aim to strengthen their defence and use her pedigree to help drive them up the table.
