Recently, the University of Ghana has announced that students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.00 will be withdrawn from the institution. However, there’s good news for these students as they are allowed to reapply for admission to pursue other courses based on their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results. They will have to restart from Level 100, and this option provides them with an opportunity to explore different academic paths.

According to Dr. Elizier T. Ameyaw-Buronyah, the Director of Public Affairs at the University of Ghana, students who wish to reapply can choose different programs, not necessarily what they were initially studying.

The University’s decision to withdraw students with a CGPA below 1.00 is in accordance with Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017). This rule states that undergraduate students who do not meet the required minimum CGPA for progressing to the next level of study must be withdrawn from the university.

The University has emphasized the importance of academic performance and the significance of this announcement, encouraging students to take their studies seriously. They have also offered support to students with questions or concerns regarding this decision.

This initiative serves as a motivation for students to improve their academic performance and emphasizes the significance of grades and classes in their academic journey.
