Titans of Africa, a sports development firm with support from Back to the Motherland held a 1-Day successful basketball tournament at the University of Ghana on Friday, 29th December, 2023.

Aimed at unearthing potential talents, the initiative, “Battle of Impact” attracted both eight male and female vibrant sides across the country.

The male sides include North Heat, Gold Nuggets, Western Rain Forest and Warrior Kings.

Also battling each other for recognition and supremacy in the female category were Ace Queens, The city Dream, GH Freedom and Basket Fever.

Gracing the occasion was Laeticia Amihere, a Canadian professional basketball player for the Atlanta Dream of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).

Amihere who plays college basketball at South Carolina Gamecocks in the SouthEastern Conference took the participants through the basic understanding of the game as well as keeping their fitness level at the highest peak.

In an interaction with the media, she commended Titans of Africa for the tremendous efforts to develop the sport.

She also urged the various players to keep thriving and be abreast with the current rules and regulations governing the game.

The 2015 and 2017 FIBA gold and bronze medalist also called on all stakeholders within the country to put in long term development plans for the sport.

According to her, the successful implementation of the plans would go along way to help Ghana basketball achieve its common goal.

On his part, the president of the Titans of Africa, Mr. Mohammed Osman Nkosi extended his profound gratitude to all stakeholders who supported the firm’s worthy events and activities in 2023.

Reviewing the impactful activities held in 2023, Mr. Nkosi stated that it has been successful.

He, however, called for more effective collaborations in order to achieve their said targets in the upcoming years.
