The Campaign for Islamic Leaders, CIL, an esteemed group of Islamic scholars have officially declared their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the 2024 general elections in December.

They made the official declarations at a brief press conference held on Monday, 22nd April, 2024 in Accra.

According to them, the NPP presidential candidate deserves all the support from Ghanaians, especially the Islamic fraternity.

The chairman of the CIL, Imam Idris Abdullah Zakariya addressing the media, described Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as an epitome of grace, a self disciplined and a visionary leader.

He disclosed that, the group would explore all potential measures to ensure total victory for Dr. Mahmud Bawumia in the 2024 general elections.

Highlighting on some National and life-changing projects implemented by the vice president, Imam Idris Abdullah Zakariya urged the Islamic fraternity to support in order for continuous development across all sectors.

“I want to urge all our Muslim brothers and families to support the idea of supporting the leadership skills of Bawumia. He is good and our own. 

“He has supported and provided sustainable opportunities for us including developing our Islamic educational sectors, providing technical support for our youth through job creation among others. Dr. Bawumia has a lot under his sleeves so we are supporting him to victory in the upcoming elections in December.” Imam Idris stated.

In an interview with some sections of the Muslim personalities at the event, they called for support from all sectors to push the Bawumia led agenda. 

They also indicated their readiness to collaborate with the various NPP zongo caucus across the country to ensure successful elections.

Gracing the occasion were top Islamic scholars from the Tijaniyya, Ahlusunnah Waljama’ah and Shi’a sets.
