The Awutu Traditional Council successfully launched the 2024 Awutu Awubia festival on Friday, July 5, 2024, with a call to empower the youth for development on the theme, “Empowering the Youth for Development Through Festival to Build Awutu State.”
His Royal Majesty Nai Odupong Awushie Tetteh (II), Chief of Ofaakor, in his speech emphasized the importance of unity and cohesion among the youth.
He called for continuous from Ghanaians to support to ensure successful organization of the festival.
“Let us come together and promote peace and harmony in our community. I urge the youth to exhibit good behavior and ensure the successful hosting of this festival.” He said.
The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East constituency, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson reiterated the need for the festival.
According to her, the festival is a very essential moment for the youth to reflect on the past glories attained by their ancestors. She also urged the youth to emulate good and responsible behaviors as the elections approach.
“This event is crucial, especially as we approach the 2024 general elections in December. It promotes unity, cultural heritage, and development. I urge everyone to support and participate in the festival.”
In an interview with AccraDailyPost, Nai Bentum (III), Chief of Awutu Bentum and Vice Chairman of the Awutu Awubia Festival Planning Committee, disclosed measures to ensure a successful event.
“We have outlined various activities, including a peace walk, marathon, beauty pageant, clean-up exercises, cooking competitions, dinner and awards night, and a grand durbar. We are working tirelessly to ensure a memorable and incident-free festival.” He stated.
The ceremony attracted top dignitaries, including traditional rulers, Islamic leaders from the Zongo community, political activists, and the clergy.
The Awutu Awubia festival which is expected to end in September promises to be an exciting and enriching experience for all participants.
