As the Awutu people prepare to celebrate their annual Awubia festival, Nai Ampim Darko Tetteh IV, Kyedomhene of the Awutu Traditional Council and chairman of the festival planning committee, has called on Ghanaians and the diaspora communities to rally behind this year’s celebrations.
The 2024 Awutu Awubia festival, themed “Empowering The Youth for Development Through Festival to Build Awutu State”, is scheduled to take place from early August to September.
In an exclusive interview with AccraDailyPost, Nai Ampim Darko Tetteh IV emphasized the significance of the Awubia festival, stating, “This festival is a special occasion for us to reconnect with our roots, honor our past traditional forefathers, and celebrate our rich cultural heritage. We invite everyone especially those in the diaspora to join us in this joyous celebration.”
The chairman of the festival planning committee, Nai Ampim Darko Tetteh IV also highlighted the various activities outlined for the festival, including a peace and health walk, beauty pageant, cooking competitions, clean-up exercises, and marathon.
“We have ensured that this year’s festival is packed with exciting events that cater to all interests. Our goal is to promote unity, cultural awareness, and community development.” He said.
Nai Ampim Darko Tetteh IV expressed his gratitude to the various Awutu communities for their support and cooperation ahead of the festival. “We are thankful for the enthusiasm and dedication shown by our people. We assure everyone that we have put in place robust security measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.”
The Kyedomhene emphasized the Awutu Traditional Council’s commitment to promoting cultural preservation and community development.
