Brother Rexford Kweku Nyanteh of the Christian Life Center emerged victorious in the maiden edition of the Clergy Table Tennis Championship held in Accra on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

He defeated Inusah Lukmann of Axes Pension Trust 3-1 (11-9, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7) to clinch the trophy and medal.

An ecstatic Bro. Nyanteh exclaimed, “I’m thrilled to have won this championship! It’s a testament to the power of faith and fitness. I’m grateful to the organizers for creating this platform for clergymen to come together and promote healthy lifestyles.” He said.

The event, organized by Safety Communication Consult, attracted over 30 clergymen from across the capital and aimed to create sustainable healthy lifestyles and mental health awareness and provide a platform for clergymen and Christian communities.

Eric Apedo of Safety Communication Consult expressed his excitement and gratitude, saying, “The event exceeded our expectations, and we’re thrilled to have achieved our mission of promoting health through sports.”

He called for more support to ensure continuous promotion of the sport through Mental Health Awareness among Ministers in ministry and church leaders.

Reverend Chief Superintendent Michael Baakwaw of the Ghana Immigration placed fourth and advocated for more participants in the next edition, stating, “This event is a great initiative, and I encourage more clergymen to join in the future. It’s essential for us to prioritize our physical health alongside our spiritual well-being.”

The maiden championship promises to be an enterprising event, with plans for future editions already underway. The success of the event highlights the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles among clergymen and the broader community.
