The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Foundation marked World Blood Donor Day with a successful blood donation drive at the GFA headquarters.
In partnership with the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital), the event aimed to bolster the blood bank with crucial supplies.
The initiative, dubbed “2nd Pint,” underscored the GFA’s commitment to community welfare. Key figures including GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo and his deputies joined supporters, club officials, staff, and members of the public in donating blood.
Dr Emmanuel Addipa-Adapoe from Ridge Hospital emphasised the critical role of blood in treating conditions such as jaundice in newborns, pregnancy complications, and childhood anaemia. He expressed gratitude for the GFA’s support.
Malcolm Frazier Appeadu, Director of the GFA Foundation, highlighted the event as a testament to the organization’s dedication to improving lives. The blood donation campaign is now a regular fixture on the GFA Foundation’s calendar.
“The blood donation exercise is a way to manifest to Ghanaians that indeed we care about the communities and truly the GFA CARES,” he said.
The event was a resounding success, with donors receiving appreciation cards and souvenirs. The GFA Foundation continues to promote blood donation as a vital component of community health.
