The Ghanaian government has launched a significant road construction initiative in Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region, as part of its efforts to improve infrastructure and stimulate economic growth. The multi-billion cedi project, spearheaded by Finance Minister Alhaji Amin Anta, aims to enhance rural and urban connectivity across the country. The initiative is part of a broader strategy that has already seen over GH¢17 billion invested in road projects this year.

Alhaji Amin Anta emphasized that this investment will significantly improve access to essential services and markets for rural communities, facilitating economic development. He also clarified that the funds for the project were not drawn from MPs’ Common Fund but were instead financed through Treasury bills, ensuring transparency and accountability.

The launch was well-received by local leaders, including Ya Na Abukari II, the Overlord of Dagbon, who praised the government’s commitment to infrastructure development. The initiative is expected to create 400 direct jobs and enhance the road network in the Northern Region, contributing to the overall economic growth of the area.
