Parts of Accra are experiencing a severe shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), disrupting daily life and leaving businesses and residents in uncertainty. Gas stations across the city have begun displaying “No Gas” signs, frustrating consumers who are struggling to find alternatives or returning home without fuel.

LPG Marketers Association (LPGMA) has cautioned that the situation could worsen if bulk supplies are not restored soon. Gabriel Kumi, Vice President of the LPGMA, warned that the crisis could lead to the closure of up to 80% of gas stations in the Greater Accra area by the weekend if the current shortage continues.

“My checks this morning indicate that about 70% of LPG outlets in the Greater Accra Metropolis have run out of gas. If the situation is not averted, we expect all stations to be out of gas by the close of tomorrow,” said Kumi, adding that the supply from Bulk Oil Distributors needs to improve to prevent further disruptions.

Despite reassurances from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) that the issue has been resolved, many gas stations are still struggling to meet demand, leaving marketers and consumers unconvinced. Residents are calling for swift intervention to address the shortage and avoid further inconvenience.

As the situation remains unresolved, the impact is being felt by households, transportation services, and businesses that rely on LPG. Urgent action is needed to prevent widespread shutdowns and restore normalcy to the capital’s fuel supply chain.
