Nigerian social media influencer Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was detained by immigration officials while boarding a KLM flight bound for Amsterdam. Sharing the incident on Instagram, Bobrisky claimed he was injured during a confrontation with officers and accused Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of orchestrating his detention. He wrote, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”

Bobrisky’s legal issues date back to April 2024, when he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse. Initially assigned to Kirikiri Prison, rumors circulated that he was relocated after three weeks, allegedly for a ₦15 million bribe. Troubles resurfaced on October 22, when he was reportedly stopped at the Seme border, allegedly attempting to flee Nigeria.

The situation took another twist in late September when influencer VeryDarkMan leaked audio where Bobrisky allegedly accused human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, artist Falz, of seeking ₦10 million for a presidential pardon on his behalf. The Falanas promptly refuted the claims, demanding a public apology, which Bobrisky denied needing to give, stating that VeryDarkMan should be held accountable for the statements.

Bobrisky’s recent detainment further compounds his legal troubles, leaving followers speculating about the unfolding situation.
