Popular international money transfer service, Taptap Send, has temporarily paused its services to Ghana, creating unease among users who depend on the platform for sending money to family and friends. In a statement released in early November, Taptap Send apologized for any inconvenience and assured users of their commitment to quickly restoring services.
According to the platform, teams are actively working with partners in Ghana to resume services, though an exact timeline has not been specified. Taptap Send reiterated its commitment to providing “excellent service” and emphasized that all funds are safe, allowing users to withdraw any money held in Taptap Send wallets to their personal bank accounts.
This suspension arrives at a time when remittances are essential to Ghana’s economy, supporting families and communities across the country. Many Ghanaians are hopeful for a quick resolution, as digital remittances play an increasingly vital role in bridging financial gaps. Taptap Send, which launched in 2018, provides low-cost international transfers across regions including Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. It serves markets in the UK, EU, US, Canada, and UAE, with transfer options into Ghana and other countries.
