The Ghana Athletics in conjunction with the National Sports College, Winneba, is gearing up to host the 2024 Basic Coaching Course. 

The 5-day program, scheduled to take place from November 25 to 29, 2024, at the National Sports College in Winneba, Central Region, aims to equip coaches with the fundamental techniques and knowledge required to excel in athletics.

The course will cover essential topics such as sprinting, middle-distance running, jumping, and throwing events. Participants will learn about proper warm-up and cool-down techniques, injury prevention, and nutrition for optimal performance. 

The course will also delve into the basics of athletics, including track and field events, rules, and regulations. Coaches will gain hands-on experience and insight into creating effective training programs for athletes.

The course will be facilitated by renowned experts in the field, including Dr. Austin Luguterah, Director of the University of Ghana Sports Directorate; Mr. Apidogo Baba, Director of the AAMUSTED Sports Directorate; and Mr. Christopher Darko-Amankrah, a member of the Ghana Athletics Association. 

In addition to the technical aspects of athletics, the course will also cover current rules and regulations regarding the sport. Participants will receive up-to-date information on competition rules, athlete eligibility, and other essential aspects of athletics. 

The 2024 Basic Coaching Course is an opportunity for coaches athletes to develop their skills, network with peers, and contribute to the growth and development of athletics in Ghana.
