Ghana has unveiled a Visa-on-Arrival policy for international travellers, aimed at boosting tourism and simplifying travel during the festive season.

Effective from December 1, 2024, to January 15, 2025, visitors to Ghana will no longer require pre-approval for entry. The initiative aligns with the popular ‘December in GH’ campaign, part of the broader “Beyond the Return” programme, which positions Ghana as a premier destination for cultural and heritage tourism.

“This initiative is a game-changer for travellers eager to experience Ghana’s vibrant festive season,” remarked Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority. “It opens up our country to the world, making it easier for people to celebrate and connect with Ghana’s unique cultural offerings.”

The Visa-on-Arrival policy is expected to attract tourists to December in GH’s wide array of events, including festivals, concerts, and cultural showcases. Ghana’s December celebrations have gained global recognition for their dynamic blend of tradition and modern entertainment.

To ensure a seamless experience, Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah has instructed airlines operating in Ghana to update their systems to accommodate the policy immediately.

Travellers are encouraged to explore Ghana’s festive offerings through the dedicated platform www.decemberingh.com. Officials hope this hassle-free entry process will inspire more visitors to explore Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and world-class events.
