Renowned legal practitioner Tsatsu Tsikata sues Kofi Akpaloo has filed a defamation lawsuit against Kofi Akpaloo, the Presidential Candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), and GHOne TV, owned by the Excellence in Broadcasting (EIB) Network. The lawsuit stems from alleged defamatory remarks made by Mr. Akpaloo during a November 19, 2024, interview broadcasted on GHOne.

During the interview, Akpaloo claimed that Tsikata’s positive remarks about former President John Mahama’s administration were motivated by personal gains, alleging that Tsikata benefited from contracts and “the best deals” under Mahama’s tenure. Akpaloo further insinuated that Tsikata was among those who enjoyed “goodies” during Mahama’s presidency, casting doubts on the integrity of his opinions.

In his statement of claim, Tsikata refuted the allegations, describing them as false and damaging to his reputation. He argued that Akpaloo’s comments portrayed him as someone whose assessments were driven by self-interest and not objective analysis. The plaintiff maintained that the statements undermined his credibility and lowered his esteem in the eyes of the public.

Tsikata is seeking a court order mandating the defendants to issue a public apology and retract the defamatory statements across all platforms where they were published. Additionally, he has requested that GHOne append the apology and retraction to the original broadcast and social media posts of the interview. He is also pursuing punitive damages against Akpaloo to deter such defamatory conduct in the future.
