On November 13, 2024, Blessed Care International Foundation organized a menstrual health and hygiene education program for school girls at Swedru Abodom. The event aimed to empower young girls with knowledge and skills to manage their menstrual cycles safely and confidently.
The educational session covered essential topics such as maintaining proper hygiene during menstruation, debunking common myths and misconceptions about periods, and promoting open discussions to reduce stigma.
The team emphasized the importance of breaking cultural stigmas that shame women and girls for a natural biological process.
To support the girls in implementing the lessons learned, Blessed Care International Foundation provided free sanitary products to the participants. The community, particularly the young girls, responded with enthusiasm and gratitude, expressing their appreciation for the program.
This initiative is part of the Foundation’s broader mission to support vulnerable groups, especially women and girls, by addressing health, education, and empowerment issues. By normalizing discussions around menstrual health and equipping girls with knowledge and resources, the organization hopes to combat period poverty and promote gender equality in underserved communities.
In attendance were traditional leaders, community stakeholders, teachers among other important dignitaries.
