Thailand Embassy Switches to Online Visa Applications in 2025

The Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja has announced that starting January 1, 2025, all visa applications must be submitted online via www.thaievisa.go.th. This change means physical applications will no longer be accepted at the embassy after December 20, 2024.

Residents of Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Cameroon, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe, and the Central African Republic are eligible to apply through the e-visa platform. Once approved, applicants will receive a confirmation email that must be printed and presented to airlines at departure and immigration officials upon arrival in Thailand.

Visa processing takes up to five working days, though it may take longer in some cases. Applicants are advised to apply 4-6 weeks before their travel dates but no more than three months in advance. Travel booking confirmations with return flight details are required, and the visa fee is non-refundable regardless of the outcome.

The embassy reserves the right to request additional documents, conduct interviews, and deny applications for false information. This online system aims to streamline the application process while ensuring compliance with Thailand’s immigration policies.
