Shatta Wale Urges Mahama to Reform Entertainment Industry

Ghanaian Dancehall and Afrobeat star, Shatta Wale, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to implement reforms aimed at professionalizing the entertainment industry.

In a heartfelt Facebook post on January 13, 2025, the “On God” hitmaker urged the President to focus on attracting professionals to radio, television, and the music sector. He likened this reform to the appointment of new ministers when a government assumes power.

Shatta Wale emphasized the need to create a system that would treat the entertainment industry as a viable career, making it sustainable for future generations. “The younger ones coming can’t go through what some of us have been through,” he wrote, expressing his desire for a better music ecosystem.

The award-winning artist has long advocated for treating music as a business rather than just entertainment, encouraging stakeholders to invest in the industry’s potential.

Shatta Wale’s call resonates with many in Ghana’s entertainment sector, highlighting the growing need for structural changes to support creativity and professionalism.
