Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, convened an emergency meeting on Thursday, 6th February, 2025 with all the Coordinating Directors of MMDAs in the Region and Regional Directors of Ghana Highway Authority and Urban Roads to deliberate on enhancing the lighting infrastructure across the region.

The discussions centered on sustainable solutions to improve urban illumination, enhance public safety, and beautify communities. 

This comprehensive approach acknowledges the far-reaching impact of adequate lighting on the quality of life, economic activity, and overall security in the region. By prioritizing urban illumination, Hon. Ocloo aims to create a well-lit, secure, and modern Greater Accra.

Effective lighting is crucial for promoting public safety, as it can deter crime and improve emergency response times. Moreover, well-designed lighting systems can enhance the aesthetic appeal of public spaces, making them more inviting and conducive to social and economic activities. 

Hon. Ocloo’s initiative demonstrates her commitment to addressing the needs of the region’s residents and promoting sustainable urban development.

Through collaborative efforts, Hon. Ocloo and her team are working tirelessly to transform the region’s infrastructure. This includes improving road networks, waste management systems, and housing solutions to accommodate the growing population.
