The Ghana Hotels Association (GHA) has urged the CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Madam Maame Efua Houadjeto, to embrace the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Forum.

The PPP Forum, a provision in the constitution, is organized by the sector Minister on a quarterly basis to listen to happenings from the private sector.

The President of the Association, Dr. Edward Nyameke Jnr., made this call at a meeting between the CEO and the leadership of Tourism Trade Associations in Accra.

Dr. Nyameke Jnr. appealed to the CEO to develop an interest in the forum, emphasizing its importance in building unity and cohesion among stakeholders. He suggested that the PPP Forum should be chaired by the private sector and have a clear budget from the Tourism levy for its organization.

In response, the CEO promised to revive the PPP Forum, promoting initiatives to make them grow bigger and better. She also plans to introduce renewable energy, especially for hotels, to reduce costs and subsequently reduce hotel rates.

The meeting aimed to bring growth to the tourism industry, recognizing hotels as key promoters of tourism.

In attendance at the meeting were Mr Kwame Appiah Danquah, a Patron of the Ghana Hotels Association and Madam Clare Banoeng-Yakubo, the Greater Accra Regional Branch Chairperson of the Association among other distinguished dignitaries.
