A 5-Man contingent of the Ghana Scrabble Association led by the president, Haruna Adamu has left the shores of Ghana on Tuesday, 18th July, 2023 to partake in the upcoming World Scrabble Championship and series in the USA.
The event which would take place on July 22 to 26, 2023 at the West gate Las Vegas Resorts & Casino at 3000 Paradise Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89109, is expected to attract over 130 players across 35 countries.
It is the second of 2 weeks of top-level Scrabble competitions to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Scrabble.
Team Ghana’s contingent comprises of experienced players who are poised to make history.
They include, Christian Isaac Mensah, Charles Tachie-Menson, Victor Amartey, Carlos Otoo Kwofie and George Addo-Quaye with Haruna Adamu as the leader of delegation.
According to Haruna Adamu, the players are optimistic and dedicated to make a statement at the world stage.
Adding that, the target is to reach to highest level at the end of the event.
“We are going to make a statement for the world to see and also look out for Tachie-Menson, the form he is in now is topnotch. I guarantee you that we are going to be within the first 10 winners. So with that we would earn more slots in the next event”, he said.
He also acknowledged the Minerals Investment Fund, Ojeyz security management, Atelier architects among others for the support in the development and promotions of the sport.
