Ministry of Interior Enforces Measures for Peace Amidst Tensions.

In response to escalating tensions stemming from a chieftaincy dispute, the Ministry of Interior has announced a curfew in Sampa, located in the Jaman North District of the Bono region. The decision, made in consultation with the Bono Regional Security Council and under relevant legislative measures, aims to mitigate unrest and ensure the safety of residents.

Effective from Thursday, April 18, a curfew will be in place from 4:00 pm to 7:00 am daily. The Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, emphasized the importance of non-violent approaches in resolving grievances, urging community leaders, youth, and residents to maintain peace during this challenging period.

Furthermore, the Ministry has imposed a ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within the Sampa township. Violators of this directive will face arrest and prosecution, as part of efforts to maintain law and order in the region.

The Ministry’s press statement underscores the government’s commitment to promoting dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution, calling on all stakeholders to cooperate in fostering a harmonious environment amidst the ongoing dispute.
