Florida man claims mystery package of meth ‘Got in His Pants’ at jail booking

According to an arrest affidavit, a Florida man denied possessing the drugs and stated that he was “unsure of how the package got in his pants” when a corrections officer discovered a “plastic cylinder” containing methamphetamine under his penis.

Caleb Phillips, 46, was found to have drugs in his drawers yesterday evening at the Indian River County Jail when he “undressed from his civilian clothing and changed into his jail clothing.”

A warrant accusing Phillips of failing to appear in court in relation to an ongoing DUI case from 2022 led to his arrest on Monday.

As can be seen above, Phillips allegedly denied putting the meth “in his pants” to a sheriff’s deputy, but he conjectured that it might have been “placed there while he was asleep.” It appears that Phillips failed to identify the person who allegedly had access to his pants in order to deliver meth.

Phillips “advised that he believed it” to contain Advil pills, despite his denial of knowing anything about the cylinder. Authorities discovered that Phillips knew what was inside the transparent container since the meth was found inside a tiny package of Advil.

Phillips faces charges of possessing illegal substances and smuggling them into a correctional facility, which are serious offenses. He is expected to be arraigned on January 4 and is currently being held without bond.

Among the charges listed on Phillips’s criminal history are prior DUI convictions, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, running away or eluding, possessing drug paraphernalia, leaving the scene of an accident, disorderly intoxication, and driving without a license.
