Access Bank (Ghana) Plc, a prominent retail bank in Ghana, has released its financial performance report for the first half of 2022, showcasing impressive growth and maintaining a positive trajectory over the past few years.

The bank achieved a remarkable 43% growth in Profit Before Tax (PBT) in comparison to the same period in 2021. The PBT increased from GHS 216.13 million to GHS 310.84 million. Other significant accomplishments include a 30.4% rise in Total Operating Income (from GHS 332.786 million to GHS 434.058 million) and a 28% surge in Total Risk Assets (from GHS 6,904,322 million to GHS 8,728,117 million). These results underline the bank’s financial strength and its enhanced capacity to support crucial sectors within Ghana’s economy.

Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana, Olumide Olatunji, attributed the bank’s success to the enduring trust placed in the Access Bank franchise by its customers and other key stakeholders. He highlighted the bank’s adaptability to volatile market conditions, its diversification of business models, and its disciplined approach to expansion and business practices as factors contributing to the bank’s value creation for various sectors and economic growth.

Olatunji emphasized the role of retail banking in Access Bank’s strategic growth plan. The bank aims to achieve its aspiration of becoming the most respected bank in Ghana by implementing innovative solutions like Agency banking to cater to customer needs.

Michael Gyabaah, the Chief Finance Officer for Access Bank (Ghana) Plc, commented that the bank’s performance aligned with its 5-year strategic growth plan. He emphasized the bank’s continuous investments in key areas to enhance efficiency, service delivery, and sustainable value for shareholders and stakeholders.
