Accra Police Arrest Woman for Attacking Ex-Boyfriend

Accra Regional Police arrested 29-year-old Augustina Adoma on June 26, 2025, for allegedly setting her ex-boyfriend’s kiosk on fire and stabbing him in Sowutuom, Accra. The unemployed woman acted after finding him with another woman, according to a police statement reported by Modern Ghana on July 3.

The incident began when Adoma confronted her ex-boyfriend, a phone repairer, at his Race Course shop. Around 4:00 p.m., while he was away, she used a duplicate key to enter his kiosk and burned his mattress, blankets, and other items. She later stabbed him in the chest during a heated argument, police said.

The victim, now stable, received treatment at a nearby hospital. Adoma also took his phone during the attack. Police arrested her after a report was filed, and she is in custody, assisting with investigations. She faces charges of arson and assault, with a court appearance pending.

The case has shocked the Sowutuom community, highlighting issues of domestic disputes turning violent. Police are urging residents to report suspicious activities to prevent similar incidents. The investigation continues to confirm details of the confrontation and ensure justice is served.

This arrest follows other recent violent incidents in Accra, like a woman pouring acid on her ex-boyfriend. Authorities are calling for calm and better conflict resolution to avoid such attacks, as the community grapples with the impact of Adoma’s actions.
