The Adentan stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has successfully launched the “Gathering Place”, an innovative initiative designed to empower youth through self-reliance courses.
The launch event took place on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the stake center, Oyarifa.
The “Gathering Place” program aims to equip participants with valuable skills in various fields, including solar panel systems and installation, dressmaking, catering, cosmetology, and information technology.
The fashion designing course will cover beginner-level fashion designing, accurate body measurement, garment construction, basic kaftan drafting, and free-hand cutting.
President of the Adentan Stake, James Yeri in his speech emphasized the significance of the “Gathering Place” program, stating, “We recognize the need to empower our youth with practical skills that will benefit them in their daily lives. We encourage all members to support this initiative and make it a success.”
President Yeri also disclosed plans to provide sustainable resource persons to implement the program, ensuring its continuity and impact.
He encouraged the youth and surrounded communities to fully participate, highlighting the program’s potential to transform their lives.
“This program offers a unique opportunity for personal growth and development. We urge all youth to take advantage of this initiative and acquire skills that will benefit them in the long run,” he added.
Experts from various fields will lead the programs, providing both theoretical and practical training to ensure participants gain comprehensive knowledge and skills.
Participants would also receive certificates of completion after the end of the year-long program.
The “Gathering Place” initiative is poised to make a positive impact on the lives of the single youth of the church as well as the communities at large, fostering self-reliance and empowerment.
