Former Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan is worried Attorney General (AG), Godfred Dame might have an “avalanche” of requests following his intervention in the Adisadel College assault saga.
Godfred Dame has called on the Ghana Police Service to initiate an investigation for possible prosecution in the case in which a student of Adisadel College is seen bullying a fellow student in a viral video.
Even though “it is within his (AG) power”, Kwamena Duncan however believes going forward, others might expect him to do same when such incident occurs again.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM‘s morning show ‘Kokrokoo‘, Kwamena Duncan said: “My only worry is his direct call for the investigation and eventual prosecution”.
“Attorney General is also an old boy but my fear on his part is his intervention after watching the video and maybe he’s not driven or motivated by his association with the school…then there might be going forward an avalanche because every video that might emerge in the future as an Attorney General you must call for police investigations and all of that.”
“It is within his power but my worry is that this is the first time we are getting something like that; where an Attorney General has watched a video and he’s calling on the police for investigation. Not just calling for investigation but investigation in order to build a docket; a prosecutable one. So in future, even if you don’t watch the video, you’ll get people calling on you to intervene; that is the avalanche,” he added.
