Adu-Boahene Denies Stealing Public Funds in Ghana Scandal
My wife and I will never steal public funds – Adu-Boahene says in memo to National Security Coordinator
Kwabena Adu-Boahene, former Director General of Ghana’s National Signals Bureau, has firmly denied allegations of stealing 49 million Ghana cedis from public funds. In a memo dated May 5, 2025, to the National Security Coordinator, Adu-Boahene and his wife Angela Adjei Boateng addressed charges of theft and financial loss to the state, calling the accusations baseless and politically motivated.
The couple is linked to a controversial transaction involving a Special Operations account and BNC Communications Bureau, a company they allegedly incorporated. Adu-Boahene insists the funds were part of authorized national security operations, facilitated through vetted channels, including his wife and UMB. He questions how such a theft could go unnoticed by the Auditor-General, emphasizing their modest lifestyle and contentment.
He accuses the Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, and EOCO boss Raymond Archer of distorting facts, claiming their actions risk embarrassing the government and compromising national security. Adu-Boahene has called for urgent intervention to prevent further escalation and public disclosure of sensitive operations.
