Ama K. Abebrese recently shared her experiences regarding the challenges actors face in the industry. Speaking on Joy Prime’s Changes show, she emphasized the emotional rollercoaster that comes with auditioning for roles. Abebrese explained that despite nailing auditions, actors can be repeatedly rejected, making it one of the most disappointing careers in the entertainment world.

Abebrese revealed that over the past year, she lost over 20 roles, despite her extensive experience. However, she stressed the importance of resilience, noting that actors must develop tough skin to cope with the rejections. She further stated that every failed audition helps her improve and prepare for future roles, adding that understanding why certain roles go to other actors is crucial.

Though she has only appeared in about 20 films throughout her career, Abebrese remains proud of her work, focusing on quality over quantity. She highlighted her role in Beast of No Nation and other award-winning films like Sinking Sands and Azali. According to Abebrese, her focus is on impactful films that resonate with audiences rather than pursuing every available role.

Her reflections underscore the difficult path actors face, even seasoned professionals like herself, in an industry where success often hinges on persistence and patience.
