Amazon has announced its plan to launch Amazon.co.za in South Africa in 2024. This expansion will enable South African-based sellers to reach customers across the country, offering greater opportunities for businesses of all sizes. More than 60% of sales on Amazon come from independent sellers, including small and medium-sized businesses.

Starting from October 17, 2023, independent sellers in South Africa can register their businesses on sell.amazon.com/south-africa, preparing for the official launch next year. This initiative aims to provide a convenient shopping experience for customers while offering local sellers the chance to grow their businesses through Amazon’s platform.

Robert Koen, General Manager of the Sub-Saharan Africa region for Amazon, expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, highlighting the benefits it will bring to both sellers and consumers. Various local businesses, such as African Mamas Crafts and Reader’s Warehouse, are looking forward to the opportunities the Amazon.co.za launch will provide for their growth.

Amazon also offers a range of tools, programs, and services to support sellers and foster business growth, including educational resources, articles, videos, webinars, and case studies.

The launch of Amazon.co.za in 2024 will open doors for independent sellers throughout South Africa, allowing them to rapidly launch, grow, and scale their businesses while leveraging Amazon’s innovative capabilities.
