Five people, including three immigration officers, were injured during a violent attack by a mob in Ayigya, Oforikrom Municipality, Ashanti Region, on Tuesday, November 26. The mob, reportedly led by a neighbor claiming ownership of a two-story Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) property, stormed the building with machetes and other weapons.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers partially burned the property and stole valuables, including mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of cash. The attack stemmed from a long-standing property dispute between the neighbor and the GIS, despite three court rulings favoring the immigration service.
Seven suspects, including the alleged ringleader, have been arrested following the incident. The injured officers are receiving medical attention.
The property dispute remains unresolved, fueling ongoing tensions. Authorities are investigating the incident to ensure justice and maintain order.
