The 4th edition of the African Youth Games are set to shine in Angola, serving as a qualifier for certain sports for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.
This major multi-sports continental competition will bring together young athletes from 54 African countries, aged between 14 and 17, to showcase their skills in over 33 disciplines. The event will take place in Luanda and other Angolan cities from December 10 to 20, 2025.
The event aims to promote sports development and Olympic values in Africa, aligning with ANOCA’s mission. Angola has been working to ensure the success of this edition, with modern sports facilities being developed.
During ANOCA’s recent EXco meeting held on 3rd September, and monitored by Accra Daily Post, President, Mustapha Berraf, highlighted the significance of this event, saying, “We hope to end the year with the African Youth Games in Angola, which will certainly serve as qualifiers for certain sports for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar,” positioning these Games as the closing event of the 2025 sports calendar.
President Berraf emphasized the importance of investing in youth and creating new competition platforms adapted to different levels of development.He stated, “By investing in our youth and creating new competition platforms adapted to different levels of development, we are laying the foundations for a robust and inclusive sports ecosystem on our continent.” He stated.
This vision underscores ANOCA’s commitment to promoting sports development and Olympic values in Africa.
