Ghana is actively participating in the 2nd edition of the ongoing Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Zone 3 Championships in Burkina Faso.

The championships, which started on October 11 and will run until October 19, 2025, provide a platform for athletes to gain valuable experience, build confidence, and compete against top athletes from the region. The event also promotes athletic excellence, sports development, and regional unity among participating nations.

Moreover, the event fosters camaraderie and healthy competition among nations, promoting the Olympic values of friendship, respect, and fair play.

The Ghana Olympic Committee led by Mr. Richard Akpokavie plays a vital role in supporting the athletes, providing them with the necessary resources and opportunities to excel in their respective sports, the GOC also demonstrates its commitment to developing and promoting sports in Ghana.

According to the GOC, the Zone 3 Championships hold significant importance for Ghana, as they offer a chance for athletes to qualify for larger international competitions, such as the African Games and the Olympic Games.

Under the leadership of Jean Yaméogo, President of Zone 3, ten disciplines are currently being contested for: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cycling, Handball, Karate, Wrestling, Pétanque, Taekwondo and Volleyball, with over 5 counties participating.
