Eight Suspects Interrogated in National Service Scheme Corruption Probe
The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has revealed that Osei Assibey Antwi, the former Director General of the National Service Authority (NSA), allegedly paid a Ghanaian Member of Parliament (MP) to suppress media coverage of the ghost names scandal within the scheme.
Significant Progress in Corruption Investigation
Providing an update on the ongoing investigation, Dr. Ayine disclosed that his office, in collaboration with the ORAL team, has made substantial progress in uncovering financial misconduct within the National Service Scheme (NSS).
“With the National Service Scandal, eight suspects have been interrogated, and a good number of them have started providing incriminating evidence,” he stated.
Evidence of Corrupt Payments Uncovered
Dr. Ayine further disclosed that investigators have obtained evidence of financial transactions made by private vendors of the scheme to top NSS executives. Additionally, records indicate that in November 2024, the NSS CEO and others paid an MP to prevent media exposure and provide political defense.
Next Steps: Prosecution to Begin Soon
According to the Attorney General, the investigation into the NSS scandal and the Sky Train fraud case is expected to conclude by mid-April 2025, after which prosecutions will begin.
Authorities are now preparing to take legal action against those implicated, signaling a firm stance against corruption within public institutions.
