Ghana’s Black Challenge team made a triumphant start to their African Amputee Cup of Nations (AAFCON) 2024 campaign, defeating Gambia 4-0 in their opening match. The team’s impressive performance was marked by standout goals from Hamza Mohammed, Yussif Yahaya, and Mubarak Mohammed, who scored twice and was awarded the best player accolade.
The match, played on May 18th, saw Ghana’s team dominate from the start, with Hamza Mohammed opening the scoring just four minutes into the game. Yussif Yahaya added a second goal at 41 minutes, before Mubarak Mohammed sealed the victory with goals at 47 and 49 minutes.
Ghana’s Black Challenge team is part of Group C, which also includes Kenya, Algeria, and Gambia. Their next match will be against Algeria on May 20th.
The AAFCON 2024 tournament, organized by the Confederation of African Amputee Football (CAAF), is being held in Cairo, Egypt, from May 18th to 30th.
