The Black Queens of Ghana delivered a resounding performance in their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Egypt, securing a 3-0 victory at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium today. The win puts Ghana in a commanding position ahead of the return leg in Accra on October 28.
Doris Boaduwaa opened the scoring for the Black Queens just before halftime, capitalizing on a precise pass from Jennifer Cudjoe to slot the ball past the Egyptian goalkeeper. The Ghanaian team dominated the game from start to finish, with their midfield duo of Cudjoe and Grace Asantewaa dictating the pace.
The second half saw Ghana’s dominance continue, and their lead was extended when Mary Amponsah scored in the 85th minute, reacting quickly to a rebound from Princess Marfo’s header. Egypt’s task became even tougher when one of their players was sent off for a reckless challenge on Asantewaa.
Asantewaa sealed the win for the Black Queens with a stunning third goal in the 90th minute, curling the ball into the net from inside the box. The victory marked a confident display by the Ghanaian team, who will look to build on this momentum in the return leg in Accra.
