Blakk Rasta Dominates FESPACO 2025 with Unforgettable Stage Presence

Ghanaian Kuchoko legend, Blakk Rasta, delivered a spectacular performance to close the 2025 edition of FESPACO, one of Africa’s biggest film festivals, held in Burkina Faso.

Headlining the festival’s closing events, Blakk Rasta ignited the stage with his electrifying energy, leaving fans in awe. His performance was so intense that jokes spread about the fire service running out of water trying to contain the “harmattan fire.”

On Day One (February 27), Blakk Rasta performed at the Palais de la Révolution, sporting a Ghana-themed tracksuit and matching shoes. He won over the audience by seamlessly blending French lyrics into his songs, with hits like “Barack Obama” and “Zantan Bua” (Goat Dance) resonating deeply. He also debuted a newly composed Burkina Faso solidarity song, further endearing him to the crowd.

On Day Two, he took over Kwame Nkrumah Avenue, Burkina Faso’s longest avenue, backed by The Herbalist Band. Draped in Kente, he dominated the stage with unmatched energy, earning nonstop cheers from the audience.

His impact was so profound that Burkina Faso’s Minister of Culture honored Blakk Rasta and his band as the “Most Spectacular Band of FESPACO 2025.” Following the performance, fans—both local and international—flocked to him for autographs and photos, cementing his status as a festival icon.

FESPACO 2025 will be remembered not just for its celebration of African cinema but also for the unforgettable energy of Blakk Rasta.
