Ghanaian musician and broadcaster Blakk Rasta has disclosed that he was prepared to leave Ghana permanently had the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won the 2024 general elections. Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, Blakk Rasta explained that he had made preparations for a “fluid exit” from the country while awaiting the election results.
According to Blakk Rasta, he traveled to Jamaica and the United States a month before the polls to plan his potential relocation. He expressed frustration over what he described as the NPP’s poor governance, which, in his view, had plunged the country into economic hardship.
“We’re just looking for change, and change is here. I was so fed up. I told everybody that should these guys win the election again, I would be out of this country,” he stated.
Drawing a parallel with Nigerian author Wole Soyinka’s vow to destroy his American passport if Donald Trump won the 2016 U.S. elections, Blakk Rasta reiterated that he was serious about his decision to relocate.
“The situation in Ghana under the NPP was very austere. I just couldn’t see myself staying any longer if they retained power,” he added.
