Bliss GVS Pharma’s Commitment to a Malaria-Free Africa: Donation and Awareness

Bliss GVS Pharma Ghana has made a significant contribution to the fight against malaria by donating various antimalarial drugs and other essential medicines worth GHC 30,000 to the Koforidua Regional Hospital. This initiative is part of their ACT for Africa campaign aimed at achieving a malaria-free continent. The donation was timed to coincide with World Malaria Day, observed annually to raise awareness about malaria and promote prevention efforts.

Madam Sandra Awuah Nyanor, a Medical Representative from Bliss GVS Pharma Ghana, emphasized the company’s dedication to eradicating malaria in Ghana. She expressed concern that COVID-19 has overshadowed the ongoing malaria threat, which continues to claim lives. The donation is a reminder of the persistent dangers of malaria and the need for continuous vigilance.

Dr. Foster Amponsah, Clinical Director at Koforidua Regional Hospital, expressed gratitude for the donation. He highlighted the importance of such contributions in the collective fight against malaria. Dr. Amponsah also advised the public to test for malaria before self-administering medications to prevent drug inefficacy.

In addition to the donation, the Bliss GVS Pharma Ghana team, accompanied by two doctors, visited St Martin’s Senior High School in Nsawam. They donated medicines valued at 8,000 cedis and engaged students in educational talks on malaria prevention and personal hygiene. Dr. Eduah Godfred Sakyi and Dr. Benson Owusu stressed the importance of professional medical consultation over self-medication.

The visit was warmly received by the school’s Assistant Headmaster, Mr. John Okpante, who thanked the team for their support and highlighted the need for further assistance to improve the school’s health facilities. Bliss GVS Pharma Ghana’s efforts are a crucial step towards a healthier, malaria-free future for Ghana.
